For God to call men and women out of a profession to be evangelists, or to serve in some other capacity, is not new. Jesus’s first disciples were fishermen. And the first physician called by God was Luke! He was called not to be a medical missionary, but rather to use his incredible communication skills in writing, as inspired by the Holy Spirit and reflected in the Bible’s books, the Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles.
Today’s Discerning Christian blog site will certainly address topics unique to our twenty-first century, and not surprisingly, many of those will be related to our high-tech, scientifically advanced world. On the other hand, blended in with these will be matters (spiritual matters) that have been around since the days Jesus walked the Earth. The author’s perspective is naturally through the lens of a physician-scientist and clergyman, but the intent is not to lecture, but rather to inspire personal discernment on God’s Word – hence the title: Today’s Discerning Christian.
